Giving Thanks

With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner, I wanted to take a moment to share with you just some of the things that I am THANKFUL for this year. I know that life can get crazy, especially around the holidays, but it is important that we all take a moment to give thanks for all that we have been blessed with.

10. Popcorn & Movies

9. Teaching my students about our DEMOCRACY & the right to VOTE
Did YOU vote this month??

8. Team Spirit - GO RMC!

Our Future Cheerleader!!
Did any of you happen to see Randolph-Macon BEAT Hamden-Sydney??

7. Parent Volunteers: Mystery Readers, Watch Dogs, Copy Moms, Wednesday Folder Stuffers, Classroom Helpers - without your help, this well oiled machine would not run as smoothly!!

Mystery Reader - Dara Nicely
David, Mrs. Nicely, and Brette

WATCH DOG FOR THE DAY
Brennan & her dad - Mr. Green

6. Technology

Comparing Numbers and Place Value on the iPads

5. Curling Up with a Good Book!
Can you guess what book these boys just checked out from the library??
HINT: It was just released this past week!
You Guessed It!
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel

Eliza and Ann Catherine love a good book too!!

4. The Native Americans - for without them, would we have had the First Thanksgiving??
We did an outdoor scavenger hunt to find things that reminded us of the
Easter Woodlands Natives - Powhatan
Once we gathered all of our items,
we brought them back to the class to create posters for display

 3. Playing Games
SINK or SWIM
Roll 3 dice and make the biggest 3-digit # possible.
If your number is EVEN you move up towards being rescued.
If your number is ODD you move down towards being eaten.
The first person to me rescued or eaten wins.

CLOSE to 20
*Pull 3 cards and see who can get the closest to 20
WITHOUT GOING OVER
GRAB & COMPARE
Grab a handful of Unifix Cubes, build a tower and record the total.
Your partner will do the same, but then you will create a number sentence
to compare your two numbers, using >, <, or =.

 2. GOOD CITIZENS
It's so hard to pick just two - just look at all 20 of them!!

Congrats to Cabell and Abby - Our Good Citizens for RESPONSIBILITY

 1. MY STUDENTS!!
