All About Mrs. Cox

For those of you who want to know a little bit more about me, you've come to the right place! Now, the question is...where do I start?

Brief Background:
I was born in New Jersey (Yea Bruce Springsteen!), went to boarding school in Connecticut for high school (Kent School, Kent, CT - Go Lions!), and then came down south to go to college at Randolph-Macon (Go Yellow Jackets!). My parents have a small farm house in Pennsylvania, which they live in during the summers, then the snowbirds head south to Florida for the winter. Although I was born in the north, my friends call me a "mis-placed southerner". I fell in love with Richmond the minute I visited, and as you can see, never left.

Family:
I am the baby of 5 children by 10 years. I have three older brothers and an older sister. All of which are married and none of which live in the same state. I have brothers in Connecticut and North Carolina. My sister lives in Georgia, and my late brother lived in Colorado before he passed. I have 4 nieces and 3 nephews ranging in age from 21 to 14.

I met my husband, Jamie, here in Richmond after college. Which is a good thing, considering he went to Hampden-Sydney, Macon's #1 rival! He, unlike me, was born and raised in Richmond and has barely ever left. We are fortunate enough to have his family right here in town with us. He has one brother who even lives in the same neighborhood as us with his two boys. You might even recognize my father-in-law from his years of reading the news for channel 12.

Jamie and I started our immediate family quickly after our wedding with the addition of our "fur" baby, Hatteras...better known to his friends as Hatty. He was my wedding present. A little fuzzy ball of golden fluff. He is every bit of the Golden Retriever reputation of a FAMILY DOG.

A few years later, we had our first baby girl, Eliza, and then, much to our surprise, we were blessed again just over a year later with her younger sister, Ann Catherine. Many people mistake them for twins. My answer to that is "ha, yea, twins the HARD way!" They are the light of our lives but definitely keep us on our toes. I'm sure your child will come home telling stories of the antics that go on in the Cox household.

Family has always been something that I hold near and dear to my heart, which is why rule #1 in my classroom is "We Are a Family". Every student that has walked through my doors has been taken under my wing, loved as if they were my own, and grown to appreciate the mentality that we don't always have to be best friends but we do have to get along and look out for each other.

Hobbies:
It is safe to say, I lead a very active life style! Between chasing the girls around, re-painting and decorating every room in our recently new-to-us house, getting up at 5am to go running (I'm currently training to run the Richmond Half Marathon in November), planning new and creative ways to entertain and educate my children and students, all while keeping a semi-clean house and a full social calendar - phew! I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
